How long is the grant and how much do I need to apply?
Applying for the FAPE Grant requires approximately two years for a family of four, while applying for the Pell Grant requires approximately three years. Eligibility for FAPE Grants is based on family size and family size-adjusted income. We review your application by phone or in writing.
How does the grant work?
Financial Assistance in Need provides financial assistance to qualifying U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents who meet one of five specific income-related needs.
Who can apply for financial assistance?
Your family member(s) and/or household members may apply for financial assistance upon approval. Financial support must be given after April 1, 2013, to qualifying family members and/or household members. You must provide evidence of financial need and must submit an application to receive your assistance.

You may apply for the FAPE Grant for family members and/or household members through our website at https://familyplanningfate.org/fate or by calling 1-800-336-HOPE (4673) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST Monday through Friday with the questions below. We need information on a current or past address, including any rental properties, business property and financial assets (cash and/or stocks, bonds, stocks, bonds or other investments), along with the following:
Your U.S. household income for this calendar year (including your combined household income for the previous year).
How many children or household members do you have?
Do you have family-based health insurance?
Yes. All you need is your own personal tax return for their insurance.
How much money do you currently have on your income tax forms?
More than one hundred thousand dollars.
