There are many advantages to grants. First off, grants are a great way to encourage your community to get involved in their local community, especially since a lot of people would rather support a local business than the same business on a national level.
Another important thing to note is that grants may be very effective in giving back to your local community. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty good at spreading my own generosity to others, especially when it comes to food. Many of my recipes are inspired by the recipes that I have received from our local community, many of my friends and family have been very helpful in promoting some of my food.
Last but not least, your grants can really be your best friend in the fight against hunger because many grants can be used as a direct grant to your local food pantry – for those times when you simply have to give a bit more than you should.
One of my favorite things about having a grant is that it helps fund local food gardening, which is a very useful idea in this area.
How do I know if I need a grant?
There is no guarantee that you’ll need a grant. If you do, know that you will certainly be very grateful for it. A lot of the grant applicants will be able to provide you with much needed materials, as well as help with travel, food processing and other things that can help you grow!
How much does a grant cost??
If you’ve got a good one, I know. However, if you want to make sure that you do, here’s information on how much a grant will cost on a national level, which will typically be the most economical.
Most grants will give you a minimum of $2500, but don’t be put off by these numbers; they’re still only a starting point. For example, $5000 may seem a little high, but you’ll probably need much more than that in order to go back to your community afterwards. It does NOT matter how much you need, how many donations you receive, etc… what matters is how much you’re willing to donate, even if it is a tiny dollar amount.
What can I do with a grant?
There are a few things you can do after a grant is granted:
Become a grant applicant. As mentioned above, you won’t need to do much to become granted – but you CAN become one; just contact your local office and explain why people should donate
