What is nap of the day?

How do you define the nap of the day? Is it a quick burst, like a nap in the afternoon? A half hour nap? Or a full nap, like a nap at night?

Cann’t you simply put this in your sleep record book as a ‘normal’ nap in the morning, on the day off?

You would think so, but if you follow your sleep record, you will find that you do not have a normal nap in that evening. Your sleep record can make this look like a perfectly regular night sleep, when all the time in between had a nip.

So what’s going on here? It turns out that what you record as a ‘normal’ night sleep can be a bit more complex than you think when you read on.

The problem?

The first thing to remember is that if you are sleeping in, even if it is just a half hour, it is still a nap. It is also possible to fall asleep at night on your back, or after a brief nap. So you have four choices:

Go to sleep. If you are comfortable with sleeping on your back, this is usually what we do. But if you are a bit uncomfortable, you can try going to sleep on your side, or using our free sleep tracking app which records your every move and position throughout the night at once !
