I’m an aspiring coach myself. A lot of people may not know that I also coach myself. Some people may wonder what it is like to be alone and still be able to play the game of basketball. However, even when you’re alone, you’re not completely alone. I’m still in contact with my old friends, coaches, teammates, and other people when I’m around the club. And I still have a team. Every now and then, I go away to practice and meet with my team again. At this point, though, I feel like I’m on my own.
You have been in the NBA for over 25 years. Why does coaching matter to you? Why is it something you still do? Do you have what it took to become an NBA coach? Do you have what it took to become an NBA coach?
I really have no idea. The point of my life is to play the game of basketball. I really think if this were my dream, I’d be doing it. My coaches taught me a game. It’s something I’ve always loved, it’s something I don’t want to pass on to my kids. I don’t even have a girlfriend anymore. As a kid, I was just a basketball player. Today, when I’m doing my job, I’m getting advice.
I’m still working my way up the coaching spectrum, whether I’ve made it or not. You never know. I’ve been on the road for about six years now, and I still like to travel. I go to basketball camps at different places. I’m always out and about. I get to try some of the best coaches out there. You want to be the best, but sometimes, you just have to let others know. But I have no hard feelings at all to the players who have been there before me. I’m glad they’re in the same situation I was – in the middle of the mountain.
