Hillary Clinton appeared to take a jab at Bernie Sanders’s “superdelegates” on Wednesday, tweeting a picture showing the senator and former secretary of state shaking hands.

It’s hard to think of a more awkward moment for the Democratic Party during the first debate than when the candidate on the left (Clinton) was trying to portray the candidate on the right (Sanders) as having the same number of “superdelegates.”

It’s not the first time Hillary Clinton has been accused of distorting facts to gain a political advantage. During a town hall meeting in Charleston, South Carolina, in late August, moderator Chris Christie tried to explain why he was against a “broader convention,” which some Bernie Sanders supporters have called for — even though Clinton is now running strongly in national polls, and in a recent Quinnipiac poll the Sanders campaign says they have more support nationwide than ever before.

“We need a convention,” Christie said, “that brings the full complement of elected officials here to negotiate a convention-wide slate of rules.”

“I can say with confidence that in a general election, if the people of New Jersey sent me to the U.S. Senate, I would support a convention,” Clinton replied. “Because at the end of the day, you can look at the math and make the argument that Bernie Sanders would never
